The basic idea: Drawing is important and most people have never been shown the proper way of thinking about it so it is stressful and unsatisfying. Mel will show you how he was trained when he was in high school in a high energy class that will make you laugh, cry, sweat, and free you from all your old habits. IT's.. NOT FOR BORING PEOPLE. FOR 5 YEARS once or twice a year he offers this class. FOR 5 YEARS HE HAS BEEN TAKING A CLASSROOM FULL OF KIDS AND FORCING THEM TO DRAW.. These are questions for fools! I attribute most of my success in life to my understanding of illustration. Not only as a demonstrable skill but also as a way of thinking. As I write this (literally) I am on the floor in a Japanese style room in Hiroshima after a long night of eating and making new friends. My buddy is snoring on a futon along the opposite wall. ALL THIS GLORY COULD BE YOURS IF YOU CAN DRAW. It's like capturing a pokemon, you have to beat it up first. WHAT ARE WE TEACHING OUR KIDS WITH THIS GAME?!!!?). Drawing is important for Mechanical engineers, Electrical engineeres, Good artists, bad artists, businesspersons, product designers, people in marketing, doctors, EVERYONE. It's easy to not listen to someone, its impossible to unsee something that someone drew. USE THIS POWER CAREFULLY. One of the most important things in this class (sketch training for life) is that the process you learn is how I learned how to do everything from speaking japanese to welding. And this top secret process is the secret behind all the goal setting and success people find in life. Most people draw the wrong way. They try to be perfect little printers. YOU ARE NOT A PRINTER. This class will show you in the most crazy way possible. I bought new speakers so the audio won't be all spiky like last year. I'm.. so.. old : c) NO TEARS. One of the instructors there changed his existence by teaching the class a few metaphors to change how they thought about drawing. CHANGE HOW YOU THINK AND YOUR HAND WILL FOLLOW. He also gets thrown special design projects and fabrication assignments for important partners and clients.. BECAUSE HE CAN DRAW BRO! I want to MELT THE IMPURITIES OUT OF YOUR MINDS. I can show this to you and I'm totz funnnnnn and cool and stuff. Fall 2. 01. 3. How to draw anything is a fast paced (yeeeeehaw) course that demonstrates key changes in perspective that will allow students to understand illustration as the masters did (sounds dull.. The class also serves as a metaphor for the itteration/goal setting/ideation process so important to innovation these days(yay?). THIS CLASS IS GOING TO BLOW SOME MINDS!(like it always does). HOW TO DRAW ANYTHING INSANELY FAST has been taught on and off at splash for the last 4 YEARS.. COMING BACK FOR MORE. WHICH MEANS I HAVE ALMOST TOO MUCH ENERGY.. Do you think steve jobs wrote an essay about iphones to get his engineers to PUSH THEIR LIMITS AND CHANGE THE WORLD? THEY DREW AN IPHONE, THEN THEY DREW HOW IT WORKED, THEN THEY MADE IT (a. CARVE THE PHONE OUT OF solid ALUMINUM)< -- - notice the amount of drawing NECESSARY for greatness. CHANGE YOUR UNDERSTANDING! HIGH SPEED and EMOTIONAL INTENSITY ==> change your old habits with rapid fire. This class is for ANYONE who intensely desires to learn. Being able to illustrate quickly helps in almost all fields. If you can draw it, someone can see WHAT YOU SEE IN YOUR HEAD (frightening). It is the only way to communicate the noncommunicable< -(real word? WHO CARES). This class will make you forget all fear! YOU WILL DRAW RAPIDLY, THERE IS NO BAD ARTIST INSURANCE. If you are not sweating and your arm is not on fire by the time the class is done you MUST NOT HAVE BEEN PAYING ATTENTION.- -> wait there's more! My company's mission is to teach anyone how to make anything. Nowhere is this better demonstrated or more clear than in THIS HIGH SPEED DRAWING CLASS. Fall 2. 01. 2. DO YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW TO DRAW ANYTHING QUICKLY? Drawing well is about CHANGING YOUR MIND ABOUT DRAWING BECAUSE, more likely than not, SOMEONE TOLD YOU THE WRONG WAY TO DO IT. Think of the big names: Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, THEY ALL SKETCHED THIS WAY.. This class blasts fear, forces you to itterate quickly, teaches goal setting, removes ego from any process, forces you to fail fast until you get it, etc. This skill boosts self confidence because the way you learned to draw is the way you will learn to do anything. THIS CLASS CRUSHES FEAR and other lame things. If you are considering a career in marketing, business, art, comicbooks, pokemon, engineering, car stuff, plane stuff, boat stuff, software development, iphone stuff, AP development, WHATEVER AND ETC - > being able to quickly draw and render an idea is a primal skill necessary to dominate meetings and COMMUNICATE YOUR IDEAS. Introducing a Wellness Program to Reduce Absenteeism. Large databases and analysis of claims data is often discussed in isolation, but what are the meaningful benefits that employers can achieve by examining the details in this data? Costs associated with labor are often cited as the main expense for employers. What if you could use this data insight to reduce costs associated with employees out on leave and the cost of replacement labor? One employer recently aimed to reduce the number of employees out on short- term disability (STD). They began by examining claim data about the specific reasons for leave, the duration of leave, incidence rate, and the associated medical costs for STD claims. Claims data analysis revealed that the medical costs of STD claimants were an average of 9% higher when the claimants also had signs of metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome includes high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and cholesterol, which increase health risks when combined. How to Build a Wellness Program. Wellness Programs Can Save Companies Money. Depending on availability, Campbell likes to use absenteeism rates. Workplace wellness programs are becoming more widespread. Healthy employees tend to be happier and more productive employees. To address the issue, the employer launched a revamped wellness program designed to target high blood pressure, cholesterol, body- mass index (BMI) and other biometric indicators of metabolic syndrome. One year later the percentage of employees at risk of metabolic syndrome dropped four percentage points. Corporate wellness programs - employee wellness program consultant representing many of the worlds best wellness companies and providing free wellness quotes. Dreamworks has installed a Ping- Pong table in their staff room to encourage employees to . I have also seen this implemented at Vodafone and in Google. Honest Tea offers their employees bicycles at cost through a partnership with a local bike company to encourage employees to bike to work. Another employer, Standard Process, has an in- house chiropractor to help employees who experience back pain from sitting in a chair all day. There are so many ideas out there for wellness programs that benefit both employees. If you are experiencing a large amount of absence and disability claims, examining the reasons behind them is a great place to start. The next step is to implement a wellness program to improve the health of your employees, and, of course, monitoring the progress will help you to justify the costs associated with the wellness program. The 2. 01. 2 Aflac Workforces Report demonstrated that implementing an effective wellness program reduced the number of sick days by an average of 2. If implementing a wellness program as part of an Integrated Disability and Absence Management (IDM) has been proven to reduce absence rates what are you waiting for? Claim. Vantage provides an Integrated Disability and Absence platform along with Analytical tools to help you and your company streamline your claims processing and reduce absence rates. The Idea in Brief Employee wellness programs have often been viewed as a nice extra, not a strategic imperative. But the data show otherwise. The ROI on comprehensive, well- run employee wellness programs can be as high as 6 to 1. The most successful programs have six essential pillars: engaged leadership at multiple levels; strategic alignment with the company. Companies in a variety of industries have included all six pillars in their employee wellness programs and have reaped big rewards in the form of lower health care costs, greater productivity, and higher morale. Since 1. 99. 5, the percentage of Johnson & Johnson employees who smoke has dropped by more than two- thirds. The number who have high blood pressure or who are physically inactive also has declined. Well, it turns out that a comprehensive, strategically designed investment in employees. Newer evidence tells a different story. With tax incentives and grants available under recent federal health care legislation, U. S. Government incentives or not, healthy employees cost you less. Doctors Richard Milani and Carl Lavie demonstrated that point by studying, at a single employer, a random sample of 1. The participants were not heart patients, but they received cardiac rehabilitation and exercise training from an expert team. Of those classified as high risk when the study started (according to body fat, blood pressure, anxiety, and other measures), 5. Furthermore, medical claim costs had declined by $1,4. A control group showed no such improvements. The bottom line: Every dollar invested in the intervention yielded $6 in health care savings. We. In 2. 00. 1 MD Anderson Cancer Center created a workers. Within six years, lost work days declined by 8. Cost savings, calculated by multiplying the reduction in lost work days by average pay rates, totaled $1. SAS Institute, thanks in part to a highly effective employee wellness program. What. A study by Towers Watson and the National Business Group on Health shows that organizations with highly effective wellness programs report significantly lower voluntary attrition than do those whose programs have low effectiveness (9% vs. At the software firm SAS Institute, voluntary turnover is just 4%, thanks in part to such a program; at the Biltmore tourism enterprise, the rate was 9% in 2. According to Vicki Banks, Biltmore. The number one answer: the wellness program. Nelnet asks departing employees in exit interviews what they will miss most. The number one answer: the wellness program. To understand the business case for investing in employee health, we examined existing research and then studied 1. In group and individual interviews, we met with about 3. CEOs and CFOs. We asked about what works, what doesn. Using our findings, we. Passes to fitness clubs and nutrition information in the cafeteria are not enough, as you. Pillar 1: Multilevel Leadership. It. Some cite lack of time, little perceived benefit, or just a distaste for exercise. A few think their health is none of the company. As with any worthwhile initiative, creating a culture of health takes passionate, persistent, and persuasive leadership. The C- suite. Although employee health correlates with financial health, workers won. If the CEO makes time for exercise, for instance, employees will feel less self- conscious about taking a fitness break. When MD Anderson initiated its wellness program, president John Mendelsohn took walks throughout the building with wellness coach Bill Baun. For many, it was the first time the president had been in their work space or had shaken their hand, and he tended to start conversations with . J& J has only a few companywide mandates. Two concern health: Any employee with HIV/AIDS will have access to antiretroviral treatment, and all J& J facilities will be tobacco free. The latter mandate was implemented in 2. Both decisions demonstrated serious commitment from the top. Middle managers. Except in tiny companies, most employees report to a middle manager. By shaping minicultures in the workplace, middle managers can support employees. Some companies even ask managers to adopt a personal health goal as one of their unit. The best wellness managers connect their expertise to the culture and strategy of the organization. These people are collaborative by nature, and analytical and credible by background and performance. No company in our study embodies this concept better than supermarket chain H- E- B, which has more than 7. With more than 5. Pillar 2: Alignment. It. As management priorities shift, the opportunity to integrate a culture of health can pass. Ideally, a wellness program should be a natural extension of a firm. But many executives forget that the cultural shift takes time. Planning and patience. At Healthwise, CEO Don Kemper. The company holds monthly all- staff meetings that always include a wellness team report on current wellness activities and resources. It sponsors an annual Wellness Day, featuring speakers and health- related activities, when employees are encouraged to reflect on the question . One executive calls it . Senior management unexpectedly required health screenings to educate workers about their health risk factors. Not ready to address such personal topics and confused about the company. The company then hired professional wellness staff and developed a comprehensive, long- term wellness strategy. It now emphasizes early communication and clear explanations to give employees time to ask questions and prepare for change. Today employees embrace Nelnet. There are, for example, many horror stories about managers who suddenly mandated smoke- free work sites, with violators risking termination. That just sends the behavior underground instead of providing support in beating an addiction. Before instituting its tobacco- free policy in 2. Starting in January 2. Lowe. Take Chevron, where 6. Fitness for duty is a central concern on oil platforms and rigs, in refineries, and during the transport of fuel. To reinforce the mantra that healthy workers are safer workers, Chevron has developed a strong wellness program that includes a comprehensive cardiovascular health component, a 1. K- a- day walking activity, fitness centers, a repetitive- stress- injury prevention program, and work/life services. Where Chevron does business in countries that lack basic health care resources, it plays a leadership role by partnering with local health ministries, NGOs, and other private sector firms to build infrastructure that helps to combat diseases such as HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis. For example, Chevron employees staff two hospitals and four clinics in Nigeria, including a riverboat clinic that sends health care providers to riverside communities. Pillar 3: Scope, Relevance, and Quality. It. Exercise is exercise, right? Depression and stress, in particular, have proved to be major sources of lost productivity. Wellness program administrators need to think beyond diet and exercise. Biltmore, for example, offers a nondenominational chaplain service. The services are confidential, free, and voluntary. The chaplains meet their clients at sites ranging from the family residence to a funeral home to Starbucks. Individualization. Many organizations use online employee HRAs to guide investment in wellness. An HRA combines a lifestyle survey and biometric tests such as blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and body mass index. The lifestyle responses (stress levels, physical activity, eating patterns, tobacco and alcohol use, and other health behavior information) are often combined with the biometric data to calculate a health- risk status, or . Employees can often complete their biometric tests at company health fairs or on- site medical clinics. Companies are required by law to protect individual health information, but managers can receive aggregated data that identify categories of greatest need and document changes in workforce health status. H- E- B, for example, tracks the percentage of employees in each retail territory and business unit who are at risk in areas such as high blood pressure, physical inactivity, and smoking against benchmark goals. The information helps management decide where to allocate resources. Persuading employees to complete HRAs is a challenge, of course, for reasons ranging from privacy, to limited self- awareness about biometric numbers such as blood pressure, to lack of computer access. J& J, however, has managed to achieve an HRA participation rate above 8. High participation plus a comprehensive HRA instrument enables J& J to tailor its wellness programs from business to business: One may focus more on cancer prevention, another on diabetes, and so on. Consider, for instance, when MD Anderson became the first health care organization to earn gold- standard accreditation from the CEO Roundtable on Cancer. Earning the accreditation is no small task: It requires tobacco- free work sites, benefit plans that cover recommended cancer screenings, assistance to employees with cancer in entering appropriate clinical trials, and investment in workers. Many people throughout the organization view this commitment as a badge of honor. Fun. Never forget the pleasure principle in wellness initiatives. For example, Healthwise. Employees who perceive them as substandard won. Communication services provider Comporium, for example, has an on- site health and wellness center staffed by an independent medical practice including nurse- practitioners (NPs), with a physician available as needed. It offers useful services such as hypertension management and treatment for strep throat and sinus infections. Initially, the program faltered because quality was not perceived as high. But the company turned that around, and now the experienced NPs enjoy a loyal following of employees, spouses, and eligible retirees. Program participation exceeds Comporium. Ultimately, customers are the only relevant judges of your business model. However, even before you test your model in the market, you can assess its design with 7 questions that go well beyond the conventional focus on products and market segments. First things first. In order to assess your business model you should sketch it out on the Business Model Canvas outlined in the video below. If you want to know more about the Canvas and how to use it you can read Business Model Generation of which 7. Assessing the basics. Every business model has a product and/or service at its center that focuses on a customer. I call this the Value Proposition. So before even turning to your business model as a whole, you need to ask yourself some basic questions related to your Value Proposition and the Customer Segments that you are targeting. For example, if a user of a search engine is trying to find and purchase the latest Nike running shoe, the measure of success will be how well the search engine helps the user get this job done. This will give you the market size. However, even the greatest products are having an increasingly hard time to achieve a long- term competitive advantage. That is the reason why you need to shift your focus away from a pure product/market segment oriented approach towards a more holistic business model approach. Below are eight questions to assess your business model design. Rank your business model. How much do switching costs prevent your customers from churning? The time, effort, or budget a customer has to spend to switch from one product or service provider to another is called . The higher the switching costs, the likelier a customer is to stick to one provider rather than to leave for the products or services of a competitor. Torrent anonymously with torrshield encrypted vpn pay with bitcoin. When you send me a resume, one of two things is going to happen: 1.) I'll send you a quick email expressing my thanks to you for sending your resume. Steve Blank; Born: 1953 Lower East Side, New York: Alma mater: University of Michigan (dropped out) Occupation: Author and Entrepreneur: Known for: The Customer. Lean startup is a method for developing businesses and products first proposed in 2008 by Eric Ries. Based on his previous experience working in several U.S. A great example of designing switching costs into a business model is Apple. Do you remember how Steve Jobs heralded his new product with the catchphrase ? Well, that was more than a product innovation focusing on storage. It was a business model strategy to get customers to copy all their music into i. Tunes and their i. Pod, which would make it more difficult for them to switch to competing digital music players. In a time when little more than brand preferences were preventing people from switching from one player to another this was a smart move and laid the foundation for Apple. How scalable is your business model? Scalability describes how easy it is to expand a business model without equally increasing its cost base. Of course software- and Web- based business models are naturally more scalable than those based on bricks and mortar, but even among digital business models there are large differences. An impressive example of scalability is Facebook. With only a couple of thousand of engineers they create value for hundreds of millions of users. Only few other companies in the world have such a ratio of users per employee. A company that has pushed the limits even further is the social gaming company Zynga. By building games like Farmville or Cityville on the back Facebook, the world. Their customer relationship collapsed under the weight of large numbers, when they were signing up ten thousands of users per day. They quickly had to adapt their business model to become more scalable. Does your business model produce recurring revenues? Recurring revenues are best explained through a simple example. When a newspaper earns revenues from the sales at a newsstand they are transactional, while revenues from a subscription are recurring. Firstly, the costs of sales incur only once for repetitive revenues. Secondly, with recurring revenues you have a better idea of how much you will earn in the future. A nice example of recurring revenues is Redhat, which provides open source software and support to enterprises based on a continuous subscription basis. In this model clients don. In the world of Software as a Service (Saas) these types of subscriptions are now the norm. This contrasts with Microsoft, which sells most of its software in the form of licenses for every major release. However, there is another aspect to recurring revenues, which are additional revenues generated from an initial sales. For example, when you buy a printer, you continue to spend on cartridges, or when you buy a game console, you. Or have a look at Apple. While they still earn most of their revenues from hardware sales, the recurring revenues from content and apps is steadily growing. Do you earn before you spend? This one goes without saying. The more you can earn before spending, the better. Dell pioneered this model in the computer hardware manufacturing industry. By assembling on order after selling directly they managed to escape the terrible inventory depreciation costs of the hardware industry. Results showed how powerful it is to earn before spending. How much do you get others to do the work? This is probably one of the least publicized weapons of mass destruction in business model design. What could be more powerful than getting others to do the work while you earn the money? In the bricks and mortar world IKEA gets us to assemble the furniture we buy from them. Previously mentioned Redhat crafted another smart business model based on other people. Their entire business model is built on top of software developed by the open source software development community. This allowed them to substantially reduce their development costs and compete head- on with larger companies like Microsoft. A more malicious business model in which others do the work is the one practiced by so- called patent trolls. In this model patents are purchased with the sole intention of suing successful companies to extract payments from them. Does your business model provide built- in protection from competition? A great business model can provide you with a longer- term protection from competition than just a great product. Apple. Is your business model based on a game changing cost structure? Cutting costs is a long practiced sport in business. Some business models, however, go beyond cost cutting by creating value based on a totally different cost structure. Skype, for example, provides calls and communication almost like a conventional telecom company, but for free or for a very low cost. They can do this because their business model has a very different cost structure. By buying in network capacity on a variable cost basis from a consortium around network equipment manufacturer Ericsson and IBM, they can now offer among the lowest prices for mobile telephony globally. Redhat, which was mentioned previously, also built its business model on a game changing cost structure: by smartly building its own model on top of other people. Some might even succeed in the market without scoring well at all. However, by asking yourself these questions and by scoring well on at least some of them you are very likely to substantially increase the long- term competitive advantage of your business. Now all you need to do is test your business model with the real judge: the market. The best way to do that is by turning to Steve Blank's Customer Development process, which fits perfectly with the Business Model Canvas. Some more info on my workshops, speaking, and projects. Squawkfox Food Waste Challenge is a series aimed at helping your family save up to $1,5. The environment may also thank us. To start from the beginning, read the introduction. At 3. AM I knew something was wrong. Like usual, I was perched on my sofa stuffing a bottle into my baby’s mouth, trying my best to appease her hungry tummy. The problem was my stomach was starving too. Her cries for food matched my own. Wipe. Somewhere between washing diapers and brewing formula I somehow managed to miss dinner. I recalled seeing Carl peel a hard- boiled egg around 9. PM. I think I sliced an apple. But in our frazzled figuring- out- this- new- baby- thing state, our dinner plates went empty. Grumble. What the heck happened? In our previous child- free existence, we made dinner together every other night, sometimes splitting a bottle of vino. Our meals wern’t fancy or complicated, but they were planned ahead of time, affordable, tasty, healthy, and ready before 7. PM. We had lots of leftovers too. These days I can’t remember the last time I ate anything cooked, let alone shopping with a meaningful grocery list. At 3: 2. 5AM I had an epiphany (or so I’d like to call it in my sleep deprived state) — Carl and I had slipped in our weekly meal planning, and the results were miserable. My bad. Frig, I’m pinning this one on the baby. By 3: 4. 5AM I knew the solution and started to get to work, ’cause really, after soothing a baby to sleep and having random epiphanies, it’s impossible to get any shut- eye with all those endorphins floating about. Besides, my dog found a splat of baby spewage on the floor, and watching her lap it up grossed me out in a . That’s likely the most unsexy, undelicious, and unfun thing I’ve ever shared. Sorry. 6 Reasons to make a meal plan. Families of all sizes and on all budgets can benefit from a simple menu plan. Reduce food waste. Since this series is about cutting food waste from your life, I’m putting this one in the numero uno position. If you plan meals and coordinate with your grocery shopping, you won’t have uneaten food go bad in your fridge. You will have an ingredient for every dish ready to go, and plans can include the about- to- expire items in need of a hungry stomach, or a mob of teenagers. Save money. Eating out costs a fortune. Eating at home costs less of a fortune. Scouting the sales in grocery flyers and planning meals around these bargain items can save you a fortune. Avoid meltdowns and other melancholy. What’s for dinner, Mom? How much longer for lunch, Dad? Yeah, children can be hungry little ducklings. Prevent your kids from doing the monster mash and having meal- time meltdowns by planning your meals a week in advance and serving in an instant. Magic. Those without kiddlets can have dinner doldrums too. Avoid those home- late- from- work cases of the hungry stomach sads by having your meal prepped and ready to heat. Adults can be (hungry) ugly ducklings too, you know. Save time. Better meal planning can mean fewer grocery shopping trips (hello, save on gas anyone?), cut dinner prep time since you’ve got all the ingredients for dinner, and reduce time spent staring into an open fridge. Steps to a Freshly Frugal Fridge. What’s inside your refrigerator? Prevent food waste and save money by getting your fridge organized and storing items in the smartest spots. Do your food prep ahead of time — when you HAVE time — to cut back on time crunches (and soccer game nights) by making sure your veggies are chopped and ready to rumble and your chicken is thawed and ready for the BBQ. Plan your meals large enough and reap the time saving (and sanity sparing) benefits of leftovers! Less time spent cooking means more time for other activities, like sleeping. See How to Find Frugalicious Foods for the tasty ingredient sleuthing tactics. Get the family in on the fun. Involve your family in the menu planning process — your kids will learn better eating habits and might eat all the food on their plates (yep, less food waste) if they’ve helped decide what’s for dinner. According to Waste Free Lunches. Involvement in meal preparation also teaches them where their food comes from, and it provides them with the confidence and skills they will need to prepare food for themselves later in life.”Bottom Line: Starving students can plan meals on a budget to save money, couples can save time by cooking only a few times per week (freezing the leftovers), and families can avoid kiddlet meltdowns by having food ready (and on hand) to fill empty stomachs before the big soccer game or music recital. Blank Meal Planner Download. Ideal for sticking on the fridge or on a cork board near the family dinner table. Free Download: Printable Blank Meal Planner (pdf)2. DIY Meal Planner Whiteboard. This project is great for cutting back on paper, perfect for jotting down ideas, erasing dishes the family vetoes, and creating an on- the- go shopping list for your next grocery trip. Stuff you’ll need: Whiteboard items: STEP ONE: Measure. Use a ruler to mark and measure a grid three or four columns across (days of week, breakfast, lunch, dinner) and eight rows down. Leave room at the bottom for a shopping list. The size of each row and column depend on the size of your whiteboard. Note: Carl and I generally only plan our lunches and dinners since breakfasts often consist of just oatmeal, fruit, cereal, or toast. STEP TWO: Tape. Painter’s tape is easy to remove and shouldn’t leave residue on your whiteboard, so it’s my choice for creating an attractive and durable 7- day menu grid. Cut tape to correct measurements and stick it to your whiteboard. If you love re- drawing a grid every week, feel free to skip this step. Use different colored dry- erase markers to represent the days of the week, dinner, lunch, breakfast, and leftovers. I draw red arrows to show when I’m planning to eat my lovely leftovers. The space in the bottom serves as my on- to- go shopping list. How to Make a Meal Plan. Menu planning is easy, people. I made mine at 4: 1. AM in the morning while watching a baby sleep. OK, the husband stepped in to make sure I was still alive (honestly, I think he missed me. Or maybe he needed another hard boiled egg for dinner. But all it takes to devise a 7- day meal plan is a strong desire to eat, and a little brain magic. After asking the fine people who follow me on Twitter and like me Facebook about meal planning, most agree that Saturday or Sunday is the bestest day to plan weekly meals. Tip: It’s a good idea to pick a day before your weekly grocery trip so you can create a grocery list that corresponds to your recipes. STEP TWO: Hunt and gather. This step takes a little legwork. Peek into your pantry, fridge, and freezer and list the ingredients you have on hand. Note which foods are about to expire, and how many need to be consumed pronto. Check the weekly grocery flyers for sale items and deals on meat, produce, dairy etc., and try to use these bargains in your weekly meal plan. Use your noggin (BINGO — that’s brain magic) and think about all the dinner recipes and lunch ideas that tickle your tummy’s fancy using your stocked ingredients and a few grocery sale items. Make a list of seven dinners, lunches, breakfasts, and snacks. Recipe Sleuthing Tip: Got a few odd leftover ingredients in need of a tasty recipe? Check out Allrecipes. Next Steps: When things go very wrong. Pobody’s nerfect. Perhaps your previous night’s chicken was smaller than you thought, leaving little for today’s leftovers.
